SUMMER ORIENTATION

For Incoming students to UMass Boston

WHAT:
A one-day program to increase new students’ awareness of strategies to navigate the college experience. Presentations by students enrolled at UMass Boston, staff, faculty, and other professionals will address:

  • Services and supports provided for students with disabilities
  • Differences between high school and college
  • Rights and responsibilities of a college student
  • Assistive technology-what it is and how it can be helpful
  • Effective advocacy for accommodations

 

WHERE:
The program will be held at the Ross Center for Disability Services at UMass Boston. The Ross Center is located in the Campus Center in Room UL211. Lunch will be provided and there will be opportunities for interaction and discussion.

WHEN:
The program will be offered on two separate dates:

  • Wednesday, July 23, 2008 - 10 a.m.-4p.m.
  • Thursday, August 14, 2008 - 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
